The Belvedere exterior and castle garden in Vienna

The Belvedere is one of the most famous castles of the Austrian Monarchy. It was built from 1717 till 1723 on the instruction of Prinz Eugen from Savoyen. From every end of the gardens you have a view on the castle. The most beautiful statues are from Sphinxes and mythological figures in fountains. Facing the north, you see the St. Stephans Dome. On the south side there is a duck lake. When I was there, the castle was already closed for visitors and the sun was retreating very rapidly. Because of that some of the pictures are a bit darker. On one of my next visits to Vienna, I am certainly going to try to see the interior.

  1. Your perspective on this grand architecture is wonderful, Filip. I really like how you showcase the sculptures and fountain using the Belvedere as backdrop. I hope you and Kristel are well (and the pups, too!).
