Shopping in Madrid

In Madrid, you find many special shops. Like on the pictures: the candy shop on Calle de Toledo, a shop with all kinds of wooden clocks as also the very classic pharmacy on Calle Mayor. The remaining pictures are taken inside this hall near Mercado de San Miguel. Here you find top quality food and wines, but it comes with a price. The main shopping area in Madrid is located around Plaza Puerta del Sol, in all streets going into the direction of Gran Via. Most of the shops sell shoes, souvenirs and clothing. What was surprising is that in Calle de la Montera, one of the main shopping streets you see many prostitutes selling their services even during day time hours. Strange for such a catholic country.
